Same Sex Marriage Timeline

The National Conference of of State Legislatures (NCSL) has a complete timeline of political events having to do with same sex marriage, going back to 2003.

On 11/8/2003 Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the state constitution guarantees equal marriage rights for same sex couples. This scared President Bush enough that in the State of the Union address on 1/20/2004 he said we must “defend the sanctity of marriage”.
